- In Japanese mythology, Kagu-tsuchi is the kami of fire who burned his mother, Izanami, to death during his birth and was subsequently beheaded and cut to pieces by his father, Izanagi, in his grief. The eight pieces of Kagu-tsuchi's body became eight volcanoes and his blood created more deities.
